Water Tank Installation Recommendations

All Green Systems Water Tanks will come with:

Leaf strainer
Leaf strainer cap
Over flow flange (90mm) with mosquito screen
Single brass outlet (1"BSP internal, 1 ¼" external)
Any additional number of brass outlets can be installed in your tank, which may incur an additional fee)

We will not provide you with any additional fittings for your tank, including pumps, filters, or any outlet valves/taps. We recommend that you see a plumbing supplier for these fittings, as they are standard plumbing items.

Self installation of our water tank is permitted if the tank installation guide-lines are followed.

Moving your tank

When moving your tank ensure that you avoid rough surfaces and sharp objects. Although the tank walls are manufactured to be approximately 8mm thick, deep gouges and small punctures will weaken the tank structure and may void your warranty.

Tank site specifications

We recommend that you follow these site specifications. If you have any questions about your specific installation, please contact the office or a qualified plumber for further assistance.

Only install tanks on a level surface
Ensure that the site is clear of rocks or stumps
Make the site approximately 350mm wider than the tank base measurements
Over the soil, make a base of concrete approximately 25mm - 60mm high. If using packing sand, crushed rock or gravel, box the area with sleepers and back fill the area with the loose bedding material. This must be a level surface at completion.
Application for the Government rebate - Water Smart Gardens and Homes. This rebate has been extended to 30th June 2011. To be eligible for this rebate, all tanks must be installed and certified by a qualified plumber (see: http://www.ourwater.vic.gov.au/saving/home/rebates).

Tank Fittings

All tanks are supplied with a single brass outlet fitting within the price. Unlike some other tanks, the outlet fitting is threaded, not moulded into the tank wall (see below). This reduces the chance of your tank leaking.

The outlet fitting that we will insert for you consists of a backing piece, an industrial washer and a brass nut for the front. In order to insert the outlet fitting into the tank the backing piece and washer need to the threaded through the top of the tank, into the hole for the outlet. The washer is pressed into the hole preventing any water leaking out of the tank when it is under pressure. The nut is then hand-tightened on the front of the tank.

By using this type of fitting rather than moulding the fitting into the tank, the backing plate is effectively holding the fitting in position. Some tanks on the market have the fittings moulded into the tank are only held into position by the plastic of the tank.

You must use Teflon (plumbers) tape between all brass fittings. This will ensure a correct seal.
All fittings must only be hand tightened.

The use of a wrench will force unnecessary pressure on the brass fitting and will void the tank warranty. Any brass outlet fittings damaged via installation are not covered by the warranty. If you require replacement of the brass outlet fitting, there will be a service fee charged, and the water tank must be emptied.
